SepraTek has established the innovated TIPS process which enables to produce a large diameter of chemically stable porous hollow fiber membranes without stretching process. The TIPS process can not produce hollow fiber membranes having a wide range of porosities as well as various diameters but also produce a robust hollow fiber reinforced by a braid.
The process can diversify membrane material upto chemically stable polymer, such as PE and PP which can not be shaped by the DIPS. PP hollow fiber fabricated by the TIPS process has a symmetric porous structure, meaning identical porous structure across membrane thickness from inner surface to outer surface as can be seen in SEM pictures below;
PP hollow fiber membrane is braided with high strength of polymeric fibers on outer surface. The braid acts as a spacer between hollow fibers to provide a room for delivering vacuum into each fiber, and a pathway of water vapors permeated through each hollow fibers.
Thereby a membrane distillation module is able to remove water vapors permeated through each hollow fibers effectively. Membrane distillation system is designed and engineered through systematical simulation and a sequence of groundwork so as to maximize membrane performance as well as the economical value of the membrane process.
